Present our country Import approximant 16 MMTPA & our Domestic production is approximant 23.5 MMTPA. If our Gas base power project & Fertilizer unit will run with 100% capacity than we need more LNG but at a competitive price. Cost of conversation from Gas to Liquid for travel & liquid to Gas for consumption is approximant 4 to 4.5 USD per MMBTU which exclude transportation cost. As our country growing industrial development needs more energy which will be produced through Natural Gas so our consumption will be increased by 2 to 3 fold in a decade.
As we understand the relationship with Iran is beneficiary to both country, we both are searching for the opportunity to show the world by the transaction. Iran has 2nd largest reserve for Natural Gas & India in 3rd largest Importer of LNG. In this regards, the TAPI pipeline Project was initiated one decade ago but it is not possible in the present scenario. Now the option remains for both country is Subsea Pipeline from IRAN to India.
This pipeline needs confirmation from the Oman Government, which is very much convenient for both Government to handle. This approximant 1900 KM pipeline 3500 Sq. Ft. undersea. Pipeline start from Bandar Abbas to Gujarat through Oman. This pipeline technology is approved in laboratory & within 5 years this pipeline will start working for both End. The estimated cost is approximant 9.5 BN USD which will provide 3.2 BN Cubic Feet Gas per Day. Direct investment will be back in a decade but other advantages consider than Investment is a blessing for developing India. There are many indirect benefits to the country.
Present in India we have pipeline working approximant 16000 KM and under construction is 10000 KM. & proposal pending more due to non-availability of Natural Gas. If Government has secure Gas sources at competitive price than internal pipeline infrastructure will start working for City Gas, Power Sector, Fertilizer, Big Industrial Belt, automobile Industries & lot more scope.
Threat & weakness to this project is huge capital Investment, International Permission, Subsea securities & maintains, depend of Supplier country, Iran ( History of this country is question mark) more option for energy, working with internal state politics for pipeline, need capital for internal infrastructure, Investment in LNG Terminal & coming more terminal & FSRU. Advantage & strength for this project is a regular supply of Natural Gas, cost-cutting, resolve environment issue, industrial development, increase employment, export to a neighbouring country, barter with Iran.
Here, we are working in this project with passion to understand the important and fortunately one international player showing its interest to design & execute the infrastructure part. We are working on creating a consortium to conclude the project. In this few government India, Iran & Oman will be part of the project along with few PSU company from both government side as well as a few financial institution along with EPC & consultant for the complete project.
